Quiet Computers
Have you ever tried concentrating or watching a movie near a noisy computer? Would you rather keep your computer on all the time but don't want to deal with the noise? We can help! We can modify your system to drastically reduce or eliminate the noise.
What causes noisy computers? Several factors, but they all come back to moving parts. Namely fans and hard drives. Cheap fans or failing fans can become very noisy. In addition to fans themselves, the air moving can generate noise. The holes drilled in cases to allow air to go through can cause the moving air to emit loud whining noises. The faster a fan moves, the more air it moves. But a faster moving fan also emits more noise. Larger fans can move more air at slower speeds and so have the potential to be much quieter. Hard drives can be very noisy, especially older ones. Some newer hard drives are near silent even when under heavy load. Both fans and hard drives also generate noise through sympathetic vibrations with the case. Using special vibration absorbing mounts can solve this.
There are many things we can do to reduce or eliminate noise from computers. We can modify your existing computer or build you a new one with silence in mind from the ground up. We are somewhat limited when working with existing systems because so few were designed with silence in mind, and can be very restrictive. For ultimate silence, we recommend a new system, or perhaps just a new case for your existing components if possible. Computer Cleaning Service
Computers can collect a lot of dust. Most newer computers require a fair amount of airflow for proper cooling and as a result they can collect a large amount of dust in a short period of time. Dust is a problem for computers because it acts as an insulator for heat and can block airflow. A heatsink clogged with dust could cause your CPU to overheat, which may cause permanant damage to it.
Thorough cleaning of a computer is not an easy job. It may seem easy to enough to open the side of the case and use a can of compressed air to blow the dust all over your carpet, but there are a lot of cracks and crevices where dust can hide inside of a case. Dust also collects underneath the motherboard and inside the power supply. We will start by taking your computer apart so we can clean each component throuroghly. We will use an industrial grade air compressor with a special moisture filtering attachment to get the dust off of everything, and then put it all back together. Caked on dust or other substances that may be stuck to the outside or (hopefully not) inside such as spilled soda or juice will be scrubbed off. Sometimes we can install small filters in places where is taken into the case to prevent or slow the build-up of dust in the future.
